We already know that serious issues are rarely on the docket. We're
in two wars, health care sucks, immigration has citizens' undies
twisted and terror is still getting lip service. What's highest on
the list of critical issues? A constitutional amendment to ban gay
marriage. With our priorities so out of whack there's nothing that
would surprise me. I believe it's just a matter of time before audio
and video subscription services, along with cable, will be regulated.
Also, don't discount the "level playing field" complaint by broadcasters

Article in local paper today. regarding cable and their protesting cable
subscription and non-pay programming is starting to backfire. While along with
tiers and ala-carte cable in the wings, TBN is requesting its viewers to
contact both Congress and the FCC so the can get cable carriage of their other
three SDTV channels that they are now programming since their FCC
licensedstations have the ATSC Digital TV system. It appears that cable if faced will
alacarte has suggested that religious channel will become a purchase tier. The
religious channels don't care for that. They would rather have their
cheenls interspersed throughout the channel numbers. Its seems that the religious
groups so intent in going after the cable folks for the subscrioption and
scrambled channels as well as regular movies in the free tiers may be placing
themselves in jeapordy for their existing channels.
