[BC] A Prairie Home Companion, the film

I indend to see it; I have developed the bad habit of missing movies I want
to see lately. I blew the chance to see Al Gore's film last weekend and now
it's gone. Anyway, I notice in the PHC newspaper ads that the cast are all
using re27s. I don't know why, but there's something about that that
strikes me as slightly amusing, I guess because when I went to see the live
real PHC a few years ago, when they were at Medinah Temple in Chicago, they
weren't using 27s (can't remember what they had) and a RE27 (getting back to
the movie now) is a pretty expensive mic for a station in financial trouble.
Okay, I'm falling prey to the tendency to pick apart any entertainment
that has anything to do with something I know enough about, to be dangerous

All radio folks should see the new Altman movie "A Prairie Home Companion".
Now, you have to love Altman and Keillor -and live radio - to love the film.
It is about an old fashioned radio show sponsored by an old fashioned radio
station. Many do not know it is their last broadcast. The knell is about to
strike. The station is being sold. The old gang that made the place special
is being dispersed and dismissed. The venue is being torn apart.

Ironically, the preview was sponsored by WVXU, which had just that happen to
it the year before. Art imitates life ...
