[BC] Public File proceeding

Scott, I hope you will file comments, and get others to do so as well. It's
going to take an outpouring of support to get the FCC to act because (i) it
is a money machine for them (though many of us know not to pay fine unless
and until a US atty tries to collect which is a rare event and (ii) the FCC
apparently believes its own untested claims that the public file is a
valuable public tool.

The link to the web page for filing comments is:
http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/upload_v2.cgi Just copy it and paste it
in the address bar of your browser. Then enter the rulemaking proceeding
number RM-11332 in the box 1 at the upper left, fill in the other required
boxes, scroll to the bottom and either browse to select the comments that
you have written and saved in Word or Wordperfect, select the document
format, and send the attached file, or scroll further down and type in your
comments and then send.

If you want to look at comments that have been filed, or to review the RM
petition, use this link http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/comsrch_v2.cgi,
type in RM-11332 in box 1 and hit enter.

Do let anyone in DC fool ya, they all know up there damn well NOBODY
looks at any station's public file! It's just a racket to make money
when Congress is on their butt's when the government needs money. It's
done all over the country with city governments. When they need money,
they get on the police chief to have their officers set up the speed
traps and give out as many tickets as possible.
The public file rule is just a way to make money!

Scott

I've thought of the Public File rules as something like a small town
speed
trap - useless except as a source of revenue for the cops, the FCC in
this
case.

In all of the years WVXU was at Xavier, no one EVER came in to look at
the
Public File except when we were about to be sold. THAT was a smelly red
herring to us that something fishy was in the works. Perhaps the Public
File is something of a radio 'DEW' mechanism!
