Scrap copper is about $3.00 a pound right now (NY price).

Okay Jackie Geason never mentioned copper, but I heard last night that the 
price of wire has gone to the moon.   I heard 500' of 12 gauge is 90 bucks; 
500' of no.14 solid is over $40 at your typical big box store (this is the 
stuff with insulation on it).   Two years ago a similar roll of #14 was 15 
bucks.  about two months ago #14 was $27.  I find this latest increase hard 
to believe and sure hope it is some kind of local fluke or mistake, and not 
showing up in the sizes and materials more commonly used by broadcasters.  
If it's true, i'm sure glad I got my wire, strap and ldf4-50A when I did.
