They were not made from station transcriptions (which, I suspect, were in many 
cases never made, or if so not retained), but rather were compiled by a small 
army of volunteers from tapings made by listeners "off the air" and recovered  
years later from various basements and dusty attics.  For a long time, much 
of this material was freely available for download, but about six months ago 
virtually all of it was suddenly pulled.  Still not sure why, but I suspect 
some "rights holder" complained.

Speaking of which, who would own the rights to Shep's WOR shows now?  RKO?  
Shep's estate?  It's a good question -- I'd love to see this material reach a 
wider audience, for much of it is truly hysterical as well as being "classic 
radio" and social documents of their times.
