What about when the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded? That was 1982, if my 
rusty memory bank serves. I remember working in an Electronics manufacturing 
facility at the time, and everything ground to a halt as the news came over the 
radio. Surely, that had to qualify as a 10-bell event, no?
