I was in high school, working as a part-time tape jockey at WETA-FM in
Arlington, VA when the "bend over, put your head between your legs..." false
alert came across the wire.  I pulled the DYMO tape off the face of the
cart, put it in the Garron cart machine, fired it up, called my Mom and Dad
and told them what was happening.  I hit the off button on the RCA
transmitter, jumped on my bicycle and made the 3 mile trip home in record
time.  By the time I got there, Bill Cerri was calling the house wanting to
know why no one would answer the hot line at the station.  
This was when the studio was at the old Dumont self-supporting tower in
Arlington.  Not sure if the tower is still there...
