[BC] FM Modulators for Satellite Radio

I've been watching this thread for quite awhile now. I believe there are
two distinct items being talked about here. In my mind, a modulator is a
hard wired device that when on, shorts to ground the antenna input and
directs the rf output via coax direct to the input of the car radio. These
normally do not cause any problems with excessive radiation. I have one of
these in my truck. I cant here the modulator on an FM radio right next to
the truck. Now, on the other hand, my son in law has an IPOD that has an
accessory item that is really a little part 15 transmitter with a short wire
attached to it. It has about a 100 foot radius. Some of these portable
satellite rx's and IPODS are used in cars laying on the seat and tuned to
the freq by the car radio. This is what is being heard in most cases in my
opinion.
Two different devices, both being called modulators.
