[BC] Another public station bites the dust

A few more in Scott's neighborhood that come to mind:

Four of the old "Rural Radio Network" FM stations in upstate NY that
Pat Robertson's CBN group owned between 1969 and 1982 were sold off to
secular broadcasters when he decided to run for President. (To raise
campaign funds?)

In fact, the new owners of 105.1 in DeRuyter, NY took it classical for
a few years -- but it's now modern rock as WWDG, owned by Clear
Channel.

Also, WJSL, the non-comm FM station I put on the air at my alma mater,
Houghton College, started out with a contemporary Christian format --
which most of the students greatly enjoyed -- but 'the beat' offended
certain members of the faculty and adminstration. (This was "way
back" in 1979.) After taking it in a more conservative direction, the
school lost interest in supporting the station, so it was sold several
years ago to public broadcaster WXXI, which simulcasts their classical
FM station from Rochester.
