The WQXR facility isn't that old and was state of the art when built. 
Other than paying rent to someone else, there's really no reason to 
move the station. They may also be able to get more in rent from 
someone else in the new building than what they're paying where they 
are. Times Square property is paved in gold. I recently read that the 
Times building is doing quite well in attracting tenants. There's 
also something to be said for prestige. It's 24/7 promotion for the 
Times. Everyone knows it's "The Radio Station of the New York Times."

I would have killed for that kind of association at WPIX-FM (now 
WQCD). With all the turmoil at the paper at the time there was no 
appeal in calling it "The Station of the New York Daily News."
