Sid...of course they will screw it up.

This--and the FAA rulemaking (separate thread), are symptoms of a larger problem.  We are overdue for a housecleaning of the Federal bureaucracy.

All that will come out of this EAS "update" will be more onerous rules for broadcast stations.  The Federal government is too cheap to actually build a working emergency alert system on their own, so they will mandate us, and the telcos, to do it for them.

Meanwhile, the Federal bureaucracy will continue to grow.
