UPDATE:

I just spoke with Robbie Hale from Little Rock, AR.,, who is a guy that does a lot of work for ERI,
and just installed an antenna for me in Louisiana a couple of weeks ago. Here is the story from
Robbie. The crew was Bill Brown from Evansville. His crew is the primary crew that ERI uses and a
very good one. A worker named Dave Brown was on a tower. They were moving stuff from one tower to
another, and had tied off a 400 pound headache ball with a 5/8 nylon rope. The crewman (Dave
Brown) had gone down on a calbe, and apparently the cable rubbed on the rope until it finally
rubbed through. The 400 pound ball fell on him in his lap and severed his leg at the pelvis. Then
the crewman, ball, and severed leg all fell from about 500 feet. Pretty gruesome. Really sad, as
these guys put themselves in danger daily for, as one other here has said, very little fanfare.

The news story says he fell 500 ft....I understand that it was 1500 ft.
Maybe Frogman can clarify this. The TV news footage didn't even show the
correct tower. The crew was removing the WDJR-FM (Dothan, AL) antenna from
the 2000 ft WTVY-TV tower. WDJR had moved to their own tower a couple of
weeks ago since WTVY needed the tower space for their HDTV antenna. Both the
WTVY-TV tower and the new WDJR-FM tower are located just north of Bonifay,
Florida (Holmes County).....that's about 55 miles north of Panama City.

Frogman works there....maybe he can correct anything I have said if it is in
error.
