These groups experimenting with IBOC, they must have so much money to
throw away. They could of took that money and invested into something
else. If your going to do IBOC, do it and keep it on.

Today, WCBS does have their hash generator turned on again. And
whatever
the processing is when they have the IBOC exciter in use, it definitely
does not sound like an Optimod. If anything, it's a dead ringer for the
classic CRL sound -- a "softly-spoken" openness, combined with fuzzy
clipping distortion, especially on deep male voices. The traditional
Optimod sound is much more "in your face" but also a lot smoother around
the edges, thanks to Orban's superior multiband clipping techniques.
So at this point, the tally for AM stations serving NYC is:
570 WMCA - analog mono, ~7 kHz bandwidth
620 WSNR - analog mono, full NRSC bandwidth
660 WFAN - daytime IBOC with 6 kHz analog audio
710 WOR - daytime IBOC with 5 / 6 kHz analog audio (day / night)
770 WABC - daytime IBOC with ~8 kHz analog audio
820 WNYC - fulltime IBOC with ~8 kHz analog audio
880 WCBS - daytime IBOC with ~8 kHz analog audio
930 WPAT - analog mono, full NRSC bandwidth
970 WWDJ - analog mono, ~7 kHz bandwidth
1010 WINS - analog mono, full NRSC bandwidth
1050 WEPN - "
1130 WBBR - "
1190 WLIB - "
1280 WADO - daytime IBOC with 5 kHz analog audio
1330 WWRV - analog mono, full NRSC bandwidth
1380 WKDM - "
1430 WNSW - "
1480 WZRC - "
1530 WJDM - "
1560 WQEW - "
1600 WWRL - Kahn Power-Side mono (USB), full NRSC bandwidth
1660 WWRU - C-Quam AM Stereo, full NRSC bandwidth
Any corrections are appreciated. In recent weeks, WNYC has been keeping
their IBOC on the air around the clock. WPAT and WZRC both experimented
with IBOC in the past, but never had it on the air for any consistent
amount of time and have now abandoned it completely.
