That 50KW on 1550 north of you in Huntsville has a pittful night signal.

The 1550 kHz. frequency in Huntsville is only 50 kW. in the daytime. They
probably have protection totoward Atlanta and the old Jackson, MS allocation.
Their night power is probably 500 Watts or may be 1 kW.

However my point is that when it comes to daytime groundwave, the
conductivity makes all the difference, In Alabama we have at best across ground
maybe 8 m/mhos, 50 kw does not go as far as the conductivitity in Iowa with 40
m/mhos./ Ecen th coastal area have terrible conductivity due to the sand.
1480 kHz. between Mobile and Panama City give each other interference due to
the salt water but inland neither station has much signal after 15-20 miles.
Seawall is is the best which is why alot of stations build in salt-water
marshes such as Meadowlands, New Jersey.
