BTW one of the more interesting TIS systems that I have seen is WPFP929
on 1610 kHz in Naperville IL. The system consists of 3 synchronous 10
watt transmitters providing overlapping coverage. I believe this was the
first system of synchronous TIS transmitters in the US. There are
probably others now.
