Some LPFM situation are repeats of what happen to several small AM
station in the mid 80's to early 90's. We had these "want a be singers,
songwriters, and know it all programmers" buying these stations, not
knowing beans about broadcasting, and getting the stations into
financial debt and then, they would go bankrupt and dark, owing money to
engineers, music right companies, the bank, etc.
Larry, you know who I'm talking about!

Too many LPFMs were started by people who had no clue what they
were doing. They thought it would be "fun." Few realized how
much work radio really is and the dedication involved in running
a successful station - LP or otherwise. We shouldn't feel sad
when these stations go away.
