Las Vegas Metro police (Combined city and county) use a 400 series
code, i.e. 401 is an accident, 413 a man with a gun etc. Most other
agencies in the area are following the federal Incident Command System
guidelines and using plain language. The Metro guys are getting a little
closer to ICS protocol but still use the 400 series for most stuff.
Our local RACES/ARES ham group has an excellent relationship with
the county emergency management agency, local hospitals and other emergency
services providers. We may not be used a lot, but we are always in the
plans and exercises. The FEMA ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS700 are required
training for participation. The following site will tell you about the
available resources if you are interested.
