FYI ... we are again experiencing a slew of issues relating to
Roadrunner service. If you are on rr, my sympathies. It continues to
be on a series of spam filters, and has trouble talking to a lot of places.
In the past week, I have had inquiries from several different people
as to "why my post didn't appear" and "are you blocking me?"
In this case, it appears that roadrunner was recently added (again)
to the spam lists, and post from those of you there have trouble
getting to the list AND to my address at oldradio.com
This is not due to special action here. The filters in use by our
host, virtbiz.com, are based on several of the filters published on
the web. Most of the time, it is automatic. You roadrunner users are
not being singled out.
PLEASE REMEMBER - spam messages are now as much as 90-95% of all
email traffic. If you are blessed as to have few spams, be grateful.
Most of us are inundated. The lists get plenty of spams every day -
the spams that get through the filters are enough of a pain. I
couldn't handle the load, if I got 400 spams a day on this list.
As far as I can tell, Roadrunner users do not get a "bounce" message.
This is FAR from common now on the web, with the huge increase in
spam. Other times (and other users) may get a bounce message. Some
of the information is here: http://www.radiolists.net/BC_list_faq.htm#posting
Of course, there are other reasons that your post didn't make it on
the list. The most common is that people who are reading on the web,
but are not subscribed, bounce. This is designed to prevent the spam
that is directed at the list from "fake" addresses. Other reasons
include posts with words like "help" "test" etc in them, or threads
that have "gone strange" or otherwise need to be stopped.
Some more explanation is here:
http://www.radiolists.net/BC_list_faq.htm#posting
In fact, I would recommend reading the FAQ ... which appears to
answer most questions. At least I've not had any suggestions or
corrections on the FAQ in a while. That would seem to indicate most
of the answers to posting questions are there.
If not, let me know!
thanks
