Barry, thanks for the info.
I've been trying to catch up on a couple months' worth of digests and didn't see this
until after I read the obit in the paper. The funeral is in York on Thursday afternoon.

I was just getting into radio in the mid-70's when I met John. Shortly thereafter, he was
promoted to the DOE for WSBA AM/FM. Everyone in engineering there had a smoke haze
around their head. So, I wasn't surprised on the cause of death. It is a sad loss of 
great talent.

I worked PT on weekends and looked forward to Johns' calls for our Sunday night meter
calibration. I'd help him on special projects including one night when we tried to rehang
the main back door that got sprung when someone didn't hang on to it during a driving 
winter storm. The sleet kept collecting on the door jam making it a long night.

John also sounded real good on the air. He did some airshifts on WSBA-FM and the AM newsdesk as
John Shaeffer. I was sad to see him go, but glad that he was moving on to bigger things.
I knew he had gone to WMCA, 3WE and WIFE. Last I had heard he was in Phoenix but hadn't
