He was on major  NYC stations for about fifty years ... mostly WMCA, 
but also WOR earlier and later in his career.
He also appeared on NY TV from time to time to time.
Was probably a man ahead of his time in many ways.
He has a Wikipedia entry,

.. the NY part of which sounds about right. It includes some Miami
