APT and Shure are working on a system using the new APTX-live coding, not sure how far along they are, but might be worth a call to either company to find out.

Subject: [BC] Encrypted wireles mics
I have a client who is looking for a wireless mic system which is digital
at minimum and possibly encryptable.
They were at an event before the end of the year where someone with a
scanner found their WM's and was feeding them to a PA system which was in
another area of the venue as a gag...and the client didn't know it at the
time. Let's just say some unsavory things were said in what should have
been a PL conversation between the studio and remote venue. Management
wasn't concerned so much with what was said, but the fact someone found
them and could have jammed them on the air.
So...they want to go digital and NOW. Aside from Lectrosonic, who makes a
professional grade digital wireless mic which can be worn as a beltpack
TX? They use headsets or ear mounted boom mics most of the time for
reasons I'll spare the lists. So the standard brick at the base of a HH
mic is not practical....though at some point they too will be necessary.
Thanks...
MM
