Well, it could be - the daytime heating affecting either the receiver or 
transmitter array or feedline; possibly both.

Which side of Highway 11 / 70 are you on?  And the "river"?

Google Earth makes the distance from primary to TX as 70.04 miles...

The overheads seem to date from about 2003; and aren't the best... About 
1000'AGL seems to be as good as it gets.

(And the Street View Google Van hasn't made it there yet, either...)
