[BC] 3 phase to single phase conversion

Contrary to what I've heard here, rotary phase converters are quiet, efficient, 
maintenance-free and trouble-free. 

They are basically properly-sized three-phase motors with a starting capacitor 
and (sometimes) auxiliary winding. Once running, there isn't any side or radial 
load on the sealed bearings so they last 15 to 20 years before they get noisy. 

After that, warning, you have another year or two before they won't run 
anymore! Note that most all electricity is generated using rotary converters 
with a different name, and long power distribution lines into the boondocks 
often have power-factor correctors which are gigantic synchronous motors 
with no load (another rotary converter). 

The ONLY problem I've encountered is that they don't start well under load. 
Therefore, you don't modify a three-phase transmitter to install one, rather 
you "create" your own three-phase power with the rotary converter always 
running, turned off only by its main circuit breaker. That way, after a site power 
failure and restoration, the converted will start long before somebody tries 
to power up the transmitter.
