Leave it to Dana to extrapolate another "radio is dying" thread out
of a press release that said no such thing. Google got into a
business they knew nothing about, and lost money trying to figure it
out and decided to get out of it. That's it. A lot of their
Adworks spots sounded like they were recorded on a Certron cassette
with a boombox using the built-in mic.
As far as their automation systems business, I don't think they
really wanted it to begin with. They bought Dmarc for the
distributed audio ads part of the business, Scott Studios & Computer
Concepts kind of came with the package.
As the article said, it's one thing to diversify your business, but
it's best to keep it in an arena you're familiar with. Google knows
the internet, it only makes sense they concentrate on web-based projects.
