When I took engineering at WFNX in Lynn, MA, they had a CP to move sites and
run 3 kW ERP from exactly 100 meters. This was half way up the tower. We
studied shadowing into Boston and found that moving to the top of the tower
improved shadowing quite a bit. We wound up with 1.65 kW at 470 feet. What was
interesting was that though the 70 dbu contour was pretty much the same, in
some azimuths the 60 dbu went out more-well in excess of a mile more in fact.
The site did very well-in some ways sven better then their present site
located right in downtown Boston does.

The link below leads to a comparison of the F50,50 field intensities for
setups similar to this scenario. Field intensity out to about 2 miles
slightly favors the 100 W at 100 ft system -- up to about 1.2 dB at a
distance of 1 mile.
