I snipped part of this (and other) super-heated posts, but can we
avoid the discussion of how "The brownshirts are back"? I lost
relatives in the Holocaust, and I find references to Democrats or
liberals as Nazis to be highly offensive and worthy of
contempt. Michael Savage and his ilk talk like this-- but such talk
should not be allowed on this list, and yeah I do believe in that
sort of censorship-- we should talk civilly and exchange ideas
courteously, or we should take the rants to another list.
The station is DC that ran progressive talk had the same problem as
many of the stations that carried it-- horrible signal. You couldn't
even hear it in most parts of DC. But the strong do survive-- Ed
Schultz was quickly picked up by a rightie station in DC, where he
will be the only leftie talker on the air.
Progressive talk does not "fail" nor has it been rejected by the
general public. I repeat: individual talkers are doing well and
getting numbers and making money for their sponsors. Those talkers
should get the chance to be heard. Not all rightie talkers are
getting numbers, yet I don't hear people saying that rightie talk is
a failure. Let's level the playing field and see who is left
standing at the end. I have the feeling that some rightie talkers
would not be on the air if their companies didn't support them no
matter how poor their ratings (some of those on Salem come to
mind). As for the lefties, yup, some are interesting and some are
not, but asking stations to give a chance to both sides of the
spectrum of ideas still doesn't seem like a Nazi-like request.
