Not much.  They already have nearly that.  I wrote an article about 
NPR last year and was given access to both Arbitron data and the NPR 
in-house polls.  In some cities, the audience is indeed mostly 
Democrats-- the split is 65-35 (65 % identified as Democrats, 35% 
Republicans), but in the majority of the cities surveyed, the split 
is 60-40, and in a few cities, it's 55-45.  Nationally, the average 
of the audience is closer to the 60-40, but the bottom line is this: 
40% Republicans in the audience isn't too shabby, if you are trying 
to have a diverse listenership.  It's another myth that NPR is only 
listened to by lefties.
