The FCC is typically really flexible with new owners trying to resurrect
dead stations.

We had a station which we procured a LMA before purchase and was less than
30 days from the sunset. We simply sent a STA letter citing conditions of
equipment and we would operate ND 1/4 power on an emergency antenna while
we restored normal operation.

So, the best thing is to get with counsel, define a tower which can be
loaded up, and file for an emergency operation STA so as to allow the
station to get back up, stop the clock from ticking, and gain the time
needed to effect more substantial repairs where needed without the onus of
the FCC breathing down your back.
