< Does anyone have any suggestions on how to refinish the surface of
some Sennheiser (and other) mics that we use on remotes? The black finish
wears off badly looking horrible. We have not had as bad a problem with other
mics, like the Heil and some of the Shure, but our folks like the sound and
feel of these Sennheisers. Is it a simple matter of repainting, and if so,
what kind of paint/preparation would you suggest. I can't see just discarding
a $200-$300 mic just for it's looks when it still sound great.

As has been said, I would strip it down to the case and find someone that
can "power coat" spray them. This kind of electrostatic paint job (using
ordinary enamel paint with very little solvent in it, is applied with an
ultrasonic spray gun) will out live any other (except for some epoxy) paint
at least three to one.

(1) Be content with what you've got. (2) Be sure you've got plenty.
