You mean EV RE-20, right?
In a past life when I worked as a live sound tech for a touring band, I
collected a small pile of Shure SM-57 and SM-58 mics. They were in
varying condition from "usable" to "crapped out". My guitar player says
"dude, send them to Shure - they'll set you up." He was right. Sent
them in along with $25/mic and a few weeks later we got them back as
good as new. Amazing.
I remembered that a couple years ago when I ran across 4 or 5 more of
the dead road warriors. Shure still offers the refurb plan, but now I
think it's up to $50/mic. I sent them all in and I would swear I got
new mics back. Honestly... they arrived in new retail boxes and
everything. I truly think they just replaced them.
Since it was only for personal use, I debated if the $50/each was worth
it. Then I compared that with buying new ones retail.
