Much cell site equipment is 48VDC as is their backup power, thus it may
easily be their **standard** equipment. My best guess would be they need
to run DC aloft so they can source from their backup battery buss, but
that is only an educated guess ... however, when hearing the hoof
beats of a stampede it is usually cattle or horses, not zebras.
