If you can live with the 5-8 second delay, this works well.
You can also try the Spacial audio encoders that let you do AAC and
such as well, it's icecast for dummies really. It's a little steep on
price IMO, but i have it running my 6 stations flawlessly for
streaming out to various web hosts and iDevice apps. It's super
stable. (uptimes of over 6 months, not bad for a windows program!)
Typical setup for me is a beefy PC with Win7 64-bit, multiple
instances of Spacial Audio's SimpleCast (they changed the name
recently to something else though), and an Echo AudioFire12 sound
card. This gives me 6 stereo audio inputs on a single machine. Takes
up a whole lot less rack space and highly efficient.
I use older Dell 1U servers off lease for a few hundred bucks. For
about $2k you can do 6 stations. Not too bad if ya ask me.
Forget using OGG, VBR has no place in broadcast IMO.
