>Perhaps a plastic owl would scare them away -- but wouldn't they figure out that it's fake after a few days? How well do these decoys really work?
I use them in my vegtable garden. We have a serious bird problem.
They work fairly well, however, they need to be moved every day or
twice a day. I read they need to be moved every two or three days,
but this is not correct.
Reflective stuff works well too, something like pie plates on
strings. They move themselves but are not as effective as owls moved
every day.
Real owls work out well, but we only had them for a few out of the
last 28 years at our house. Hawks worked extremely well, but they
have only been here two years. I would love to pay them to hang out.
