[BC] Life after radio

I know three engineers who left radio for IT jobs making twice or more than
they were in radio.

I have two brothers at Micron in Boise who keep bugging me to come aboard.
They both own million dollar homes and drive really cool cars. Incredibly
tempting. I've been in radio for 26 years because it was fun. I surely did
not get into radio for the money back then...

Nice thing about Micron, really good benefits, great pay and you actually
get to use that time off you accrue as opposed to radio where you take a
vacation...as long as there aren't 50 projects going on. Oh yeah, and no
phone calls in the middle of the night. You also get treated like you might
actually know something. I'll probably stay in radio forever. I love
abuse....and ramen noodles.

actually I work for one of the few really good companies that take care of
their people really well. If I ever leave them, it will be the last radio
job for me. I need a cool car and I really like Boise.

Hello:

What kind of work do broadcast engineers typically go into when they leave
Radio? Are their new gigs really better? (pay, benefits, work hours)

If anyone has some happy ending stories, please pass them on. Email me
privately if you prefer.
