Pardon me if this is a re-post

Jerry Miller, former Chief Engineer of WCCO, Minneapolis, a prominent member
of the FCC's Alternative Inspection Task Force, and a really decent,
positive gentleman, passed away last night from complications due to his
illness.
A little over two years ago, Jerry was diagnosed with ALS ("Lou Gehrigs
Disease"). He faced his illness with a positive attitude and until the end
he was more concerned about other folks than he was about himself.
Jerry was probably my best friend. As part of our closeness, Jerry was a
role model. He was always interested in what was around the corner...new
technology, developments abroad, our role in society and how we treated each
other as humans. He would laugh at himself but never at others. He
deflected praise onto other folks...but he was also very proud of his own
accomplishments.
Jerry would want to be known as a son who made his father proud of him.
Jerry will also be remembered by those who knew and loved him as one of a
kind. A man who was always 'figuring out' the world. Someone who was there
when we needed a lift and who always had the kind word and positive thought
that would make you wonder why you ever thought your own problem was so
important.
I don't cry much...and never did in his presence, watching him battle his
illness. But this time I think Jerry will understand if I do.
