That's exactly what I'm saying.
In fact, one top rated station doesan't even delay the analog to match the
delay in the digital.

Dana,

Most LA FM stations use Orban processing - either 8400's or 8500's. 
Both units are capable of split processing whereby the HD output is 
processed differently (and properly) for a bit-rate-reducing encoder. 
So, the same box (8400-modified, or an 8500) can be used to properly 
process each - the analog FM and the HD FM.

Are you saying that you're absolutely sure that the FM-processed audio 
(available on an AES output) is being fed to the HD input on the HD 
encoder?

Now, it's certainly possible to mis-adjust the HD-intended output to 
sound bad, but that not the way Orban (or Omnia) intends the processor 
to be used.
