Are you sure you are not confusing DRM with DRE?  Now, I am not sure whether or not DRE uses DRM protocols on subcarriers, but DRM is being used on the main carrier, primarily on SW but some MW experimentation seems to be taking place in various countries, and IIRC it is now being considered for use on VHF.
