Salt water can do wonderful things. "France Bleu" on 864 kHz from Paris
has a clearly listenable daytime groundwave signal in southern Ireland,
some 500 miles away. 300,000 watts non-directional, in C-Quam AM Stereo.
At night I can sometimes hear Radio Rebelde from Cuba underneath 710 WOR
and 770 WABC. I'm about 25 miles away from WOR & WABC, and about 1300
miles away from Cuba. I wonder if Castro still has any of those super-
power Czech transmitters on the air. It sure doesn't sound like his
stations are using only 50 kW. I also hear that station on 530 kHz from
the Turks & Caicos islands every night, drowning out every TIS in its
path.
IIRC they are either 100 or 150 kW.
