If you are healthy and you haven't been exposed to noise, you 
shouldn't have any problems until 60. Some keep their good hearing 
longer than that, others don't, it depends...

But these days you are at much higher risk of hearing loss due to 
exposure to high SPLs. This IMO affects younger generations in 
particular, which is disturbing! Don't know the actual situation in 
USA, but in my experience noise levels in night clubs and other 
places where people go out have never been higher! Concerts too. I 
find it literally painful to listen. And there are thousands and 
thousands of (mostly young) people there. Sound level in cinemas is 
also very high these days (though large dynamic range of movie 
soundtrack helps here). Last but not least, how many teenagers do you 
see walking around wearing headphones, listening to iPods, etc? High 
audio levels in headphones (and you need to mask that ambient noise) 
is a sure way to easily loose your hearing. Permanently.
