I've heard of that happening. I recall a Broadway show that stopped
when a cell phone rang. The star of the show goaded the offender into
answering the phone and let the audience hear his side of the inane
conversation. When he hung up, the show continued. He was so
mortified he left the theatre. Now it's illegal in New York to have a
pager or cell phone not on vibrate in a public performance space.

Maybe I subconsciously left Chicago out because we were competing
with WFMT for High Fidelity Magazine's award for the best FM station.
AT WGBH, Boston, we always felt we were the best.
