Motorola's second-generation C-Quam decoder design solved that problem
over a decade ago. Any AM Stereo-equipped car radio or home tuner built
since 1993 will gradually blend the audio to mono in cases where platform
motion would be experienced with a first-generation decoder. Together
with automatically variable IF bandwidth (depending on signal strength),
today's AM Stereo receivers deliver optimal reception and sound quality
without needing any kind of manual mono/stereo or bandwidth switches.
