Uhhmmm...nope; the Level-Devil was not a peak controller but a so-called 
average-level gain-rider.

The peak limiter Gates offered at that time was (I believe) the SA-40 (or 
was it SA-39?)

The Sta-Level, IIRC was 2 rack units; the limiter was 5 or 6 RU; it had a 
multi-position release-time switch so you could really 'hotten up' the audio 
:-((.

Yes, I believe it was something like that.  It was designed for gain-riding, 
not peak control.  That was the Level-Devil's job.
