When Mike and I were building the first DAPs, I remember him telling
me of a couple of preliminary efforts made in the LA area. I think he
tried one at KGFJ, which involved splitting the audio between two
boxes - I can't remember the units. Also, there were some rumblings
over at RKO's KHJ around that time.
Mike and I tried as many as eight bands before reducing it to
three. (Man, was that monolith something! ... )
