The Level Devil was originally designed and sold for TV film chain audio.
It was, as the name implies, a leveler with both and expansion and
compression. There was a gate function that triggered the expander
with IIRC up to 10 dB gain and it would compress about 20.
It found its way to FM from TV. IMHO worthless for AM in most formats.
