Ed Buterbaugh did not use multi-band at WEAM.  His chain there was an
Audimax RIIZ, LA-2A and Solid Statesman followed by a Pultec EQ to smooth
the response of the RCA 5KW with 10KW modulator.  Before the 125% positive
limit, the old GR mod monitor would slam the meter against the peg on a
regular basis, and when the "news bug" button was pushed, it would stay on
the peg for the duration.  You could hear the news bug in my '67 Ford Galaxy
with the volume all the way down.  IIRC, shortly after WPGC went stereo,
they had a pair of DAPS feeding an 8000.  No telling what Smitty had done to
those boxes.  It was loud and clean!  (Apologies to Grady Moates...)
