PGC was stereo long before either the 8000 or DAPs were out, ~1971 I
think it was, certainly by 72.
I believe the chain back then was an Audimax/Volumax, with LA-2's
between them, with a Garron phase enhancer and Burwen dynamic noise
filter in front of it all. Oh, and the EMT plate, of course. This was
pre-Smitty.
