BTW... I saw a program on PBS last night about how at least 3/1,000,000th of 
a second per day has "gone away" due to a faster earth rotation rate due to 
..... the earthquake that created the tsunami one year ago (xmas day)! 
Really.

They claim that the earthquake moved enough mass (including the water) at 
one time to change the angular momentum long enough to permanently effect 
the period of rotation.

   So, maybe we should wait a few more years before adding that second!
