My nephew, who is working his holiday away at a big box retailer (in
Ventura Co, California) told me that he was out of Sirius radios in the
first week (that would be around December 19th). He told me that some
customers, when faced with no Sirius radios asked if they could get
Howard on XM, many not really understanding the difference in services.
This leads me to think there is a learning curve that is in progress. He
also told me that customers are still confused by the terms HDTV and
Digital TV. Over dinner last week he asked, "Aunt Rachel, can you give
me the (name of store) version of how to explain the difference". I did
as best as a techie can, reducing it to about two sentences. Not easy.

Small world this. I am in the same county and probably in that store today. I am whiling away in a smaller box electronics store equally sold out of Sirius. Interesting explaining to the employees sat radio, antennae, placement, and why Howard isn't on XM which in our Ventura County store, is not an option. We are very Sirius and very sold out. In every Ventura County, Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County location (there are over 20).

iPods sold early and when replenished, the shipment the week of the 20th sold in 30 minutes. People ask for iPods daily, they call and drive in. They do the same for Sirius. In my vast month of experience one customer has asked for XM.

When an informed salesperson discusses mp3 players and points out the other choices, customers buy. Today, there is ONE mp3 player (512 mb) for sale, in our store.

Were I inclined, the product that is known as the iPod killer, would be my choice (and the only Sirius receiver avail) Its a receiver, portable player which downloads from the Sirius satellite or your computer and records 3 Sirius channels for play later, its transportable and more than $$$$150 more expensive than any other Sirius receiver, they are direct from the warehouse to the customer and selling well.

My number at the store......
