Yes, during experimental hours, although I would just say testing. I did that 
with a then daytimer on 1580. Were up almost every night at 1AM 10,000  watts 
omni. I got calls from all over the east coast, especially the DC area where 
there was another 1580 daytimer NOT on the air testing, a lot of cars were 
pre-set to that frequency, though.
