We do indeed have a confusion of terms here.

IBOC is associated with Ibiquity, but it should not.

Indeed, I will make the technical claim that DRE is indeed IBOC, and
Ibiquity is NOT.

DRE's subcarrier stays with your 100kHz slot. This to me sounds like In
Band On Channel, or IBOC.

Ibiquity's FM first digital carrier starts 129kHz plus and minus from
your main analog carrier. Since the next channel assignment is 200 kHz
away, that very first subcarrier is closer to the adjacent channel than
yours. Hence, by the laws of physics, Ibiquity can only be called In
Band Adjacent Channel, or IBAC.

I understand the confusion with IBOC and Ibiquity. However, the
technical points need to be clarified.

Myself, long term planning is both Ibiquity and DRE. The positive about
DRE is that all they want from you is the $ 9,000. They do not care
about any revenue, or lack thereof what you make off their system. They
ask for no legal access to see your accounting books. They do not make
you simocast your main channel analog audio with any of their digital.
Indeed, DRE has customer service all figured out. "We'll make the box,
and let each of our customers do with it what they want".

If any one has any concerns about this post, just spell the name right.
